WFMU, one of the finest radio stations on the planet, is home to The Best Show, one of the finest programs on the station, which is hosted by Tom Scharpling, one of the genius-est personalities on the airwaves today. A few months ago, Tom visited Daniel Smith at his home in New Jersey to talk about encountering Def Leppard at Boy Scout camp, the terror of singing in a tree next to a drunk drum-playing Swede, Danielson then-and-now, and much more. Also, April 15th at Union Transfer in Philadelphia, for the first time in years, the Danielson Famile will be together again, sharing the stage with Deerhoof and People Get Ready. The creative journal Positive Feedback just published “The Myth I’ve Made of My Life”, a terrific feature of Dan’s remarkable words, images, and photographs exploring his earliest inclinations as an artist and musician. Read it here. Dan Zimmerman IN SPACE!
Dan Zimmerman, the ever-searching Cosmic Patriot, is both director and leading man in ‘SPACE PILGRIM‘, a 1950’s style sci-fi short film (ala George Pal, Ed Wood, and Val Lewton) from Cardboard Dream Productions. The film documents the interplanetary daring-do of Space Pilgrim as he threads his way through asteroid belts, encounters strange worlds and even stranger creatures, and pilots home to submit the full report of his adventures: his forthcoming album, ‘Dreams of Earth‘.
